End handles; fixing by screwed sockets.-Relates to handles for files or other tools having tapered tangs wherein a screwed socket is provided in the handle adapted to receive the tang, this socket being hard enough to cut into the tang, and being retained in place in the tool handle by a ferrule. The'socket comprises two companion members 13 in the form of a longitudinally divided socket provided with flanges 15 engaging slots 12 in the bore 11 and locked together by ribs 16. The ends of the threads 17 on the companion members are arranged to come between one another so that with a few threads in each member double the number of threads are formed on the tang.
