Abstract
10,136. Houston, R. April 30. Stopping pipes and tubes. - The ends of damaged tubes of tubular steam generators are closed by conical, disk, or other plugs 5, 9 connected together by a wire rope or chain 4 and by a supplementary wire cord 12. In the application of the invention to a generator of the marine type an articulated rod is attached to the screwed rod 7 and the rope 4 pushed through the tube and let down into the furnace. By means of a hook engaging with the cord 12, the rope 4 is brought to the front of the furnace and the stopper 5 attached. The plugs 5, 9 may have a facing 11 of a soft metal such as lead or copper.
