Abstract

9731. Smith, H. April 25. Cooking-stoves; baffles.-One or more baffles 1, which may be turned to deflect the flue gases towards the hot-plate 3 or towards the oven top 4, are provided in a kitchen range. As shown in Fig. 2, the baffles 1 mounted on end pivots 5 are changed in position by strikers 14 on a sliding rod 13 which engage crank-pins 15. The rod 13 is operated by a lever G which has a tooth 17 engaging notches 18 in the bottom of a slot 19 in the range front through which it projects. The baffles may be separately operated by handles formed on the ends of their spindles, and be held in position by lugs within the stove.
