8097. Mavor & Coulson, and Mackay, M. April 7. Mine props. - Compound mine props consist of wooden members A encased in metal tubes B, the ends of the members initially projecting beyond the tubes, and tending to spread laterally under compression. The parts of the props may be secured together by nails. In a modification, the metal casing is provided with a fixed plug A<1> and end plugs A<2> of wood, metal, or wood encased in a tube, the plugs being secured to the casing by set-screws.
