Picture and like frames.-In picture and like frames of'the kind provided with backs arranged to slide into position, the back B is provided in or adjacent to its two sides with grooves or channels b<3> which are adapted to engage ribs or flanges a<2> on the rear sides of the frame a'. A third channel may be formed at the top of the back to engage a third flange at the top of the frame, the back being slid into position from the bottom edge of the frame. The construction shown in Fig. 4 is suitable for a cardboard back, metal strips b<2> being bent so as to engage and support the edges of the cardboard, and also to form the channels b<3>. In the case of a wood or veneer back, the channels b<3> are formed directly in the edges of the back.
