[Addition to 23,575/10.] Gyroscopic apparatus. - In a gyro-compass, the period of oscillation and deviations due to disturbing influences are reduced by suspending two alternating-current electro-magnets e1, e2 in relatively perpendicular planes and connecting to the gyro-casing k two metal induction plates c1, c, which tend to adjust themselves symmetrically in the respective fields. As movements of the gyroscope in its plane of rotation do not as a rule cause any disturbance, the electro-magnet c2 and its plate c2 may be dispensed with.
