Abstract

5786. Chedeville, M. March 8. Bridles.-In a bitless bridle of the kind comprising a rigid framework and a leather device, the framework consists of two bars 1, 2, curved as shown, one on each side of the horse's head. The bars terminate below the mouth and are connected by a cross-bar 3. The upper ends of the bars terminate below the outer lateral base of the ears as shown at 5, and are connected at these points with the throat strap 11, brow band 15, and head stall 16. Two straps A, B are attached to the rigid bars and cross in front of the horse's head, pass through loops 8, and are attached to the throat strap. A chin strap 18 is provided. The traction exerted by the reins through the rigid bars forces the leather device to press on the lower maxillaries near the throat, on the upper part of the face, on the upper part of the head immediately behind the ears, and on the rear of the bases of the ears.
