Abstract
4684. Niditch, I. March 25, 1912, [Convention date]. Pyrotechnics. - Relates to compositions for railway-signal fuses, of the kind containing a metallic nitrate, sulphur, a carbohydrate, and potassium chlorate, and consists in the addition thereto of a relatively large proportion of potassium perchlorate to prevent spontaneous ignition while the proportion of potassium chlorate is made relatively small. An example contains 65 parts of barium nitrate, 13 parts of sulphur, 6 parts of greased sawdust, 11 to 13 parts of potassium perchlorate, and 1 to 3 parts of potassium chlorate. One part each of charcoal and antimony may also be added. Specification 14,396/10 is referred to.
