3745. Banks, E. W. Feb. 13. Actuating.-Relates to detail improvements in a device in which the valve of a gas-stove is operated by putting on or removing a kettle or similar utensil, the operating-lever having a tappet at one end, and the other end being weighted and connected to the gas-valve. The valve-operating lever A has a tappet a adjustably screwed upon one end and clamped thereto by a screw a<1>, whereby the height of the tappet above the burner may be adjusted. By means of a screw C, held in the adjusted position by a screw c, the amount of gas passing to the burner when the utensil is removed from the burner may be regulated.
