Abstract

3148. British Thomson-Houston Co., [General Electric Co.]. Feb. 6. Clothes frames. - A device for d r y i n g hosiery and the like consists of an electrically heated form over which the articles are placed, having interchangeable parts for varying the size. The apparatus shown consists of two sheet-metal or other plates 13, between which is an insulated resistance 14. The driers are attached, in backwardly - inclined rows, to flanges on a bracket 10, from which t h e y a r e thermally insulated. The plates 13 may be f o r m e d with reduced V-shaped ends 17, over which removable tips of different sizes may be fitted tightly. A groove 21 may be formed on one of the plates 13 to take the seam of the hose, the driers for right and left stockings having the groove on opposite plates. The resistance is arranged in such a way as to heat the heel and toe more than the rest of the stocking.
