Abstract

2535. Scott, A. Jan. 31. Glazing.-Capping-strips 22, for holding the glass on asbestos, tarred or oiled cords 11, are secured by copper clips, consisting of two channelled metal strips 20 connected together and secured to the glazing-bars, the free ends 21 being passed through and bent down upon the capping. The water channels in the glazing- bars are painted or tarred or covered with metal. The glazing-bars at the ends of the roof are provided with metal sheathings 3 passing over raised parts 4 of the bars and terminating in portions 5 adapted to be fixed underneath the ordinary flashing strips. End stops 6 for the glass are secured to the glazing-bars, purlins, &c., and project beyond the glazing-bars. The stops are formed with channels 8, 10 to receive the bedding cords and channels 9 for water, and are bent up at the ends and dressed down on the capping or glass. In one form of stop, the inner end is inserted under the sheathing of the bar. In another form, the end 16 is bent at an angle with the edges 17 turned up to engage the sides of the bar. In another form, side flanges 18 are provided for securing the stop to the bar, and the centre 19 of the stop is slotted.
