Abstract

1711. Lee, C. S. Jan. 21. Metal-skeleton bricks.-Relates to armoured bricks for safes, strong-rooms, &c. as described in Specification 19,315/11. The steel facing- plates a are anchored to the material of the bricks by inwardly-bent end flanges a<1>, which are perforated, slotted, or formed with tongues with or without bent-over or twisted projections. The flanges a<1> may be connected by wires b, or provided with wires, bars &c. projecting further into the bricks. The steel facing-plates may be covered with copper, or may be built up in laminated form with intervening plates of copper, to prevent the fusion of the steel facing by an oxy-acetylene flames. According to the Provisional Specification, a series of plates, which may be perforated, may be embedded in the brick.
