Abstract

29,868. Krupp Akt.-Ges., F. Feb. 29, [Convention date]. Axles.-Consists in a divided axle, described in connexion with ordnance field carriages, the central part carrying the body being capable of rotation relatively to the wheels when the carriage is on sloping ground in order to bring the body upon an even keel. In the form shown, the part E of the axle upon which the body C is mounted carries sectors e<2> which engage dovetail fashion with sectors e<3> on the cranked portions E<1> of the axle. The sectors e<2> have teeth which engage worms on shafts h<1>, which shafts are cross-connected through bevel gearing and are rotated by means of the hand-wheel M, when the gun is on sloping ground, to bring the part E into a horizontal position as shown.
