Abstract
26,786. Krupp Akt.-Ges., F. March 31, [Convention date]. [Addition to 12,779/08.] Field carriages; recoil apparatus.-Relates to the type of gun-carriage described in the parent Specification, in which the wheel axles can be turned about vertical axes to bring the wheels into such a position that the gun can be traversed about the spade, and consists in providing traversing - gear connected with both wheels through differential gearing, and means for moving both wheels simultaneously into the traversing position, which means comprise an arm attached to each wheel and a link connecting these arms. The wheels E E<1>, Figs. 3 and 5, are rotatable in horizontal bearings E<2> in shanks D vertically pivoted by pins D<1> in jaws C<1> on the axle-tree C. Arms F attached to the pins D' and connected bv a link F' cause the wheels to move into the traversing position together. The link F<1> passes through an eye a<1> on the trail A and may be locked thereto in either the travelling or traversing position by means of a pin G, which enters either of the holes f<2>, f<3> in the link F<1>. The traversing-gear which operates through pinions P<2>, R<2> on rings of teeth E<3> on each wheel is operated by a hand-wheel h<1> through a worm H and the differential gear shown in Fig. 4. The worm-wheel J which is rotated by the worm H, supports diametrically a shaft N carrying a pinion J<1>, which engages both with a bevel-pinion J<2> by means of which the pinion R<2> is rotated, and with a bevel-pinion J<3> for rotating the pinion P<2>. The pinions P<2>, R<2> are mounted on shafts P<1>, R<1> so as to be capable of longitudinal movement against the action of springs P<3>, R<3> in case the teeth on the rings E<3> do not exactly engage with the pinions P<2>, R<2>.
