Abstract

29,479. Theis, H. W., and Sutton, W. J. Dec. 21. Actuating; casings; repairing.-A ball or float valve comprises a ball-shaped valve member F, Figs. 1 and 3, guided above and below by wing guides in upper and lower seatings within an inner spherical-shaped valve casing formed in two parts A, C screwed together. A lift disk g<2> closes down on the said upper seat when the valve F closes on the lower seat, as shown. An outer casing D carrying the operating-mechanism is rotatably and removably mounted on the inner casing and is secured by screw-studs E, Fig. 3, engaging in recesses c<6> therein. The lever mechanism is compound, as shown, one lever arm N being pivoted at L near the outlet d<1>, and the other lever P being pivoted at the opposite side of the valve casing at M. The ball arm is adjustably secured in a toothed spring jaw p<1> by a screw nut R. When the upper casing D, or the operating-mechanism, is removed for repairs the inner valve F closes on the upper seating by the action of the water pressure.
