Abstract

Filters with horizontal filtering-partitions; decanting.-In apparatus for filtering and separating lubricating- oils from water &c., of the kind constructed with several superimposed chambers, instead of the filtered oil being stored on the surface of the water to be drawn off or conveyed to a separate detached or isolated chamber, a separate chamber is provided in the bottom of the apparatus. The oil, after being screened and filtered in the chamber a by the filter-element d, passes to the chamber b by means of a pipe g. This pipe is provided with a disk h having serrated edges over which the il spreads and rises to the surface of the water, whence it passes down the pipes k to the oil reservoir c. A water-overflow pipe j and steam-pipe coil i are provided.
