Soaps, materials for making. - Ammonium stearate or palmitate is used as a soap in the treatment of white textile fabrics, yarns, &c. to prevent them subsequently turning yellow. In order to increase the whiteness of the fabric or to impart more gloss to it, boric acid, perboric acid, a borate, a perborate or other peroxidized salt or peroxide may be added.
