Abstract

26,231. Griffiths, E. J. Nov. 15. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Bridles.-Eye-guards for pit ponies are made from a single-length of strong iron or steel wire mounted upon a ventilated padded headpiece or cap, and arranged to enable the pony to see freely in all directions. Fig. 3 shows a leather head-piece a which is secured upon the head by straps b, b<1>, and provided with soft felt pads c and ventilating-holes. The strap b<1> passes through either of two loops f to adapt the head-piece to varying sizes of heads. The wire eye-guards e are secured on the head-piece by clips and rivets g, or by means of the known socketed screws or bifurcated rivets. The eyeguards, a modification of which is shown in Fig. 7, are arranged to provide the longer sight openings towards the bottom, as shown in Fig. 3, the greater strength of wire being towards the top. In a modification, the guards are applied to a head-piece of the ordinary skeleton type.
