Abstract

23,461. Hayes, S. April 14, 1913. Rolling- machines ; moulding pulp. - Artificial slates, tiles, slabs, &c. are moulded from fibrous and cementitious material between endless converging chains g, g<1>, each composed of links p<2>, Fig. 6, which are so shaped as to conform, upon assemblage, to the shape of the article to be moulded. Upon the chains g, g<1> are superposed endless bands c of felt, and bands a, b of linen &c. Rollers e, e<1>, f, f<1> support the chains g, g<1> and bands a, b, c, the felt bands e being also passed around suitably-shaped drums h<3>, n<1>, and the linen bands a, b being passed around suitably-shaped drums h, h', i, l, m, n. Brushes q<1> revolving in washing-trays q clean the bands a, b. Rollers c' support the upper and lower bands while acting upon the plastic material. The material is fed in at x. Lengths of wire or woven webbing may be drawn in with the material to reinforce the slabs.
