Rotary stirrers; framing.-A portable mixer adapted to be secured upon varying sizes of kegs or cans, for breaking down paint, mixing distemper, paste, &c., consists of a cross-bar e provided with (1) adjustable means for clamping it upon the top of the keg; (2) bearings for a vertically-adjustable vertical shaft a carrying mixing-blades b and an adjustable side scraper b<1> of any suitable kind; and (3) bearings m for a driving-shaft k. In the form shown, the clamping is effected by the aid of jaw pieces h adapted to slide in slots f in the cross-bar and to be held in position by bolts with coacting wedge-shaped heads j. The shaft a is held in its adjusted position by a set-screw o<1>, and the scraper b<1> by a set-screw b<3>. The mixing- blades are perforated. The shaft k drives the shaft a through bevel-gearing n. According to the Provisional Specification, the cross-bar is clamped to the keg by pendent rods which are secured to the slots f with their lower ends abutting against the inner periphery of the keg. and screwed spindles which pass horizontally through brackets carried by the cross-bar and are pressed against the outer periphery of the keg at the places opposite the pendent rods.
