Abstract

22,229. Williams, W. Sept. 30. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Suspenders for articles of dress.-Relates to buttons and fastening - means therefor, which may also be used for the attachment of coat tabs &c. A button a, Figs. 1 and 4, is pierced with two enlarged holes b to admit the pointed tags e of a lace or cord d, the holes being connected by a groove c in which the lace lies. A small single or double ring f is threaded and clinched on the lace under the button, to prevent the lace from being detached before use and to space the button from the material; or the lace may be bound with silk or wire &c. g, Fig. 3, for the same purpose. To attach the button, the tags are forced through the material and tied in a knot, the ends of the lace being then cut off. Before the knot is tied, a second double ring i, or a pierced metal disk, or a piece of hair cloth, may be threaded on the lace. Blunt tags may be used to be passed through holes pierced in the material. The lace may be permanently fixed to the button during its manufacture when the button is moulded from paper or wood pulp, celluloid, vulcanite, &c.
