Abstract

20,236. Veulle, F. H. de. Sept. 5. Actuating.-In a Bowden control device wherein the transmission member may be actuated by one or other of two or more levers situated at different points in its length, as described in Specification 22,638/11, [Class 136 (i), Velocipede &c. accessories], one of the telescopic sleeve members is attached to a fixed part to which is also fulcrumed an operating-lever adapted to actuate the other of the telescopic sleeve members. The device enables a single Bowden-wire mechanism to be used both for the hand and the foot control of the throttle on the engine of a motor-vehicle. The ends c, d of the divided outer member of the Bowden mechanism are attached respectively to a pair of telescopic sleeve members a, b, which are normally compressed by a spring e to form part of the outer incompressible member when the device is actuated at its end by a handlever in the ordinary manner. One of the sleeve members such as a being fixed to a base-plate g, a foot or other intermediate actuation of the device may be effected. by means of a pedal or lever h also pivoted to the plate g and adapted to press against a pair of studs or pegs j secured to a plate or cross-bar k on the other sleeve member b.
