Abstract

19,237. Ludlow, H. W. Aug. 22. [Cognate Application, 29,308/12.] Hand-wheels.-In a steering hand-wheel for motor - vehicles formed of two trough - shaped sheet-metal stampings, with the rim and spoke parts in one, the stampings A, B are placed together with an interposed stamped - metal plate C of such a size that its edges project slightly at the joints of the two stampings, these edges being melted and smoothed over by the welding or other process of uniting the stampings to form a complete wheel. The boss of the wheel may be formed of an angle-section ring 5, welded or otherwise fixed in the boss part of the stampings.
