Abstract

18,680. Hodges, C. B., and McCaffrey, T. Aug. 14. Fusible plugs. - A fusible plug is placed in the discharge passage of an air-compressor, so as to relieve the compression and give an alarm if the air is dangerously heated. Fig. 2 shows a suitable form of plug. To the plug 8 is attached a hollow stem 12 projecting in to the middle of the discharge passage and closed by a button 13 of easily fusible metal. The plug is covered with a perforated cap 10.
