Abstract

18,442. Asselbergs, C. Aug. 10. Materials descending by gravity.-Pulp &c. are dried on floors b formed of coils of pipe through which steam circulates, the temperature of each floor being regulated separately. The materials are moved over the floors by rotary scrapers adjustably attached to removable agitating-arms and fall from floor to floor at the centre and the periphery alternately. The spaces between the floors b diminish downwards through the apparatus. The whole is enclosed in a casing a with a non-conducting cover. Hot air enters the casing a through an opening g and passes up in counter-current to the material to be dried.
