18,373. Kestner, J. F. P., and Neu, H. J. E. Oct. 19, 1911, [Convention date]. Moistening. - Apparatus for ventilating chambers &c., with or without moistening of the air, or for moistening only, comprises a conduit 1 fitted internally with two groups of spraying - nozzles 2, 3 oppositely directed and connected by valves 6, 7 with water-supply pipes 4, 5 so that one group or the other and a predetermined number of nozzles of either group can be set in operation to aspirate the air in one direction or the other. The conduit communicates at one end with the chamber by openings 8, and at the opposite end with the outside air and the chamber by openings controlled by dampers 9, 10. In a modification, the nozzles 2 are made more powerful than the nozzles 3, so that when both groups are turned on together a fine spray is produced. Fig. 2 shows a chamber fitted with three conduits, the middle conduit supplying moistened air to the chamber, and the other conduits drawing air from the chamber and expelling it to the exterior. The functions of the conduits can be reversed by suitably manipulating the valves.
