Briquetting processes.-In the treatment of ores prior to briquetting, the ore is first preheated or calcined, next partly reduced to the metallic state, and then weathered by exposure to the atmosphere for the production of oxide which acts as a binding-agent during subsequent compression. The gas generated during the reduction may be utilized for the calcining or preheating.
