[Addition to 6787/12.] Clutches and speed-varying mechanism. - In hydraulic clutches of the type described in the parent Specification, the casing 4, Fig. 1, carries, in addition to the vanes 5, radial vanes 10, which are adapted to utilize the pressure energy generated by the rotation of the drum 2, 3. Alternative forms are described in which (1) the ribs on the drum and casing are curved, so that liquid strikes the vanes on the casing normally; (2) the vanes on the drum are helical; (3) the drum and casing are made in the form of a double cone.
