Force-feed lubricators.-Oil is forced under pressure to the axle bearings of locomotives or railway vehicles by a pump operated by vertical oscillations of the axle-box in its guiding-horns. The plunger p of the pump c is connected to a horizontal bar r, the ends of which carry links l, pivoted to brackets b, a, on the horns h, between which the axle-box x slides. The links l allow the axle box to oscillate axially, transferring the vertical components of such oscillations to the plunger p. Oil is sucked from an oil well w, and forced through a pipe d, p to a groove g in the brass b, from which it returns to the well.
