Abstract

16,024. Krebs, L. July 9. Dynamos, driving.-Electric lamps for wheeled vehicles are energized by a dynamo, the spindle of which carries a friction roller forced against the rim of the wheel by a torsion spring coiled round the fixed spindle carrying the device on the vehicle. The general arrangement is shown in Fig. 4, and as shown in Fig. 2, the torsion spring 26 is fixed at one end 25 and the free end 27 bears against the end of the machine away from the roller 1 so as to force the roller 1 against the road wheel 2. The stress in the torsion spring can be regulated by turning the device completely round about the spindle 23. The friction wheel 1 may be disengaged by moving the machine axially along the spindle 23 in the direction of the arrow and then releasing, so that the stud 29 in the fixed spindle 23 engages the slot 30 in the fork 24 and thus holds the device against the torsion of the spring 26.
