Abstract

Shuttles, changing bobbins and the like in, automatically.-The loose thread end d that is blown off the spool a before spool-transference occurs is caught and held by a roller b fixed on a hollow shaft h loosely mounted on a continuously-rotating shaft c. Normally, the shaft h is rotated by friction, but, when the roller b is engaged by the thread d, the shaft is stopped and thread-breakage is thus. prevented. When the spool has been threaded and the weft end has been cut, the roller b is again rotated frictionally to wind up the thread end. The roller b is covered with card clothing, velvet, plush, or woollen or other cloth, to which the threads readily adhere, and is made conical to facilitate removal of accumulated threads.
