[Cognate Application, 27,637/12.] Rest - bars ; springs, mounting bodies on.-A trailer for use with motor - cars and other road vehicles comprises a rectangular frame 1, which is supported on one or more castorwheels 3, and is hinged at its front corners to the rear of the towing- vehicle. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, eyes 2<1> on arms 2 of the trailer engage a rod or tube 9, which is fixed to the rear of the vehicle by a pair of brackets 10 with hinged caps 11 and tumbler bolts 12. The castor-wheel may be detachably mounted in the frame as by a pivot or pin 4 engaging a casing 5 secured within a socket 6 by a two-part ring 7, which is contracted on to the flanges at the lower ends of the casing and socket. When two or more castor-wheels are used, they may be connected so as to work in unison by chain gearing or a connecting-rod and crank-disk, and in order that the trailer when detached from the vehicle may be wheeled like a barrow means, such as a pin 13, may be provided for locking the pin 4 against rotation within the socket 6. For supporting the front end of the trailer when detached, a frame or pair of legs 14 may be hinged to the frame and when not in use, may be held beneath or within the side members by coiled springs upon the studs forming the pivots. The castor-wheel may be resiliently mounted in its fork 18 as by levers 20, which carry the axle 19 and are controlled by springs 21 and stops with or without rubber buffers. According to the first Provisional Specification the arms 2 may be adjustable laterally upon the trailer, and the axle of the castor-wheel may be connected to the pivot 4 by one or more laminated springs.
