Reinforced concrete; columns; girders.-The main reinforcing-members 1 of reinforced-concrete piles, columns, beams, &c. are tied together by a continuous double or multiple wire winding, as shown in Fig. 4, which is tensioned by twisting together parallel portions of the wire by means of a tourniquet or the like, the members 1 being held in a suitable framework. The members 1 may be tied diagonally and transversely as shown at 6, 7, Fig. 2. Wedge-shaped filling-pieces may be inserted in the spaces 5, and the central eye 4 left by the tourniquet may be pinned to the concrete. The whole reinforcement may be produced as a transportable unit.
