Abstract
8865. Pollacsek, E. April 15. Composition fuel.-Coal containing sulphur is mixed with a watery paste of lime in excess of that required to fix the sulphur, together with starch, glue, waste sulphite-cellulose liquor, or like binding agent; the mixture is dried, moulded, and impregnated with an oily composition made as described below, or the composition may be incorporated before drying and moulding. The oily composition is made by boiling crude petroleum oil containing about 10 per cent of ozokerite or paraffin-like substances, adding a tenth per cent of bitumen and phenols, for example crude phenol or creosote oil, and blowing in air until the product solidifies on cooling. The composition is heated to 90-100‹ C. before immersing the blocks. In an example, 100 parts by weight of coal dust are mixed with about 4 parts of lime, 2 to 3 parts of which are required for fixing the sulphur. 3 to 6 parts of the organic binding- agent, and 8 to 12 parts of oily composition.
