Abstract

8554. Gare, T. April 11. Moulding wheel tyres. - India - rubber is re-formed, vulcanized, and similarly treated by pressing it in a mould a, placed between, and in complete surface contact with, two electrical heaters c, d, with the rubber between the heatproducing parts of the said heaters, a direct or alternating current of 220 volts pressure being applied to the heaters until a temperature of 260-290‹ F. is attained, at which temperature the treatment is concluded in about 15 minutes. As shown in Fig. 1, asbestos sheets h and vulcanized fibre i are placed between the heaters c, d and the press-plates b. The ends of a tyre may be joined, or rubber may be moulded upon a metal tyre rim in a similar manner. Specification 13,969/04 is referred to.
