Counters registering difference of positive and negative actuations. - A counter for registering the number of picks made in a loom is actuated forwards when the loom is weaving by a worm C or like device on a sleeve b upon a constantly-rotating shaft a engaging a gear d on the spindle e of the counter, but, when the loom is reversed, the sleeve b is moved upwards on the shaft a so that the worm c engages an idle gear g, and the counter is actuated backwards. To reduce the risk of the worm c jamming on reversing, the teeth at the inner side of the gear d and the outer side of the gear g are shaped to a knife-edge. To prevent tampering with the apparatus, the gear-wheels are enclosed in a casing. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 27,753/11.]
