Engraving.-The hand-piece of an electricallydriven dental, engraving, or vibratory engine is fitted with a switch which is closed bv firmly gripping the hand-piece, and is readily attached and detached and adjusted to and from the tool; a small electric lamp may be attached. The switch comprises a preferably wood or vulcanite block d, which is snapped on the handpiece c by a spring clip e, and has a contact g; a wood or vulcanite lever f is hinged to the block, preferably by a flat spring f<1>, which serves as the other contact. The lamp L is controlled by the same switch. The clip e may be replaced by a set-screw or clamp, or the block may be in halves fitting round the handpiece.
