Abstract

7572. Leitner, H. March 28. - Electro-magnetic switches. -Automatic cutin and cut-out switches for use in charging accumulators are constructed with a cylindrical pot-magnet a enclosing the shunt winding c and the series winding d, and a circular disk armature e carrying a contact-brush h, both magnet and armature having spindles b, f which protrude into the coils. The contact is closed at a sufficient voltage of the dynamo A, and opened by a reverse current from the battery B. An additional relay operative at a lower voltage may be arranged to complete a resistance loop between the battery and the dynamo, so that the series coil d, or an additional fine-wire coil, is excited in opposition to the shunt coil c while the dynamo voltage is lower than the battery voltage. The loop is short-circuited when the main contact closes.
