6700. Daam, G. von. March 18, 1911, [Convention date]. Catch gear of mine-cage type.-Comprises a modified arrangement of safety catch gear of the kind in which, upon the breaking of the hoisting-rope, disks are forced by springs into engagement with the guides and are thus rotated, the motion being transmitted to eccentric brake members which are turned into gripping engagement with the guides. Toothed disks 23 are mounted on shafts 20 pivotally suspended by brackets 22 from the frame 14. Bevel-wheels 24 on the shafts 20 gear with bevel-wheels on shafts 26, which are mounted in bearings in U-shaped members 21<a> secured to the frame 14. Eccentric toothed cams 27 are carried by the shafts 26 in close proximity to the sides of the guides 10, the inner faces 12 of which are toothed so as to be capable of giving a rotary movement to the disks 23 when the apparatus comes into action. In the event of the cable breaking, the draw-bar 16 is depressed by a spring 17, and the inclined links 18 are straightened so as to swing the disks into engagement with the toothed face 12. The rotary movement of the disk is transmitted through the bevel-gears to the cams 27, which engage the sides of the guides 10 and arrest the'cage.
