Rails, metallic built-up.-Rails are composed of two similar parts, each comprising a head 2, web 1, and base 3, the head and base increasing in width from the ends to the centre 5. The web 1 may also increase in width towards the centre, and may be inclined from the ends to the centre 5. The joints of one part are placed against the centre of the adjacent part. Fig. 3 is a section at a joint.
