Abstract
4463. Hutton, H. T. Feb. 22. Exhaust-silencers are constructed of pairs of dished or like plates A having baffles B between the members of each pair. Perforations C at the outer edges of the baffles cause the gases to pass near the inner surfaces of the plates, the outer surfaces being exposed to the atmosphere. The plates may be of the same or varying size. The baffles may project beyond the joint of the plates A; or pairs of baffles may be used, the gases passing through small pipes at the outer edges of the baffles. The pairs of plates may be connected by flexible tubing, and the plates may be corrugated.
