Clips, lever.-Relates to dress fastenings of the type wherein a pair of oppositely-arranged spring-controlled arms are pivoted to a backing and adapted to grip the material between their outer ends and projections on the backing, and is particularly applicable to collar - supporting devices, collar or scarf brooches, &c. A collar support a, Figs. 1 and 2, which may be provided with a necktie-support b, has arms c pivoted to a frame e, the outer ends of the arms having beads f perforated to receive spikes g formed on a plate h carried by the lower part m of the support a. The plates h, m tend to spring apart and act on angular heels i on the arms c. The frame e is connected to the plate h, and passes freely through the front plate m. For a collar or scarf brooch, Fig. 5, the backing p is of bar formation, the arms c being controlled by separate leaf springs q. In a modification, Fig. 7, the arms c are pivoted to lugs r carried by leaf springs q, the heels i acting against a front plate s. As shown in Fig. 8, the arms c engage between pairs of spikes g to avoid perforating the beaded ends f, which may be then made of pearl or imitation pearl.
