Abstract

616. Hartnett, J. T. Jan. 8. Theft alarms.-Attempted withdrawal of an article from the jeweller's pad, tray, &c. described in the Specification 21,376/10, [Class 3 (ii), Advertising and displaying other than &c.], moves the reciprocating locking-frame transversely and acts through a system of levers to actuate an alarm or signal. This is effected by mounting the frame 5, Figs. 1 and 2, on spring-supported bolts 11, which allow the frame to move towards the front 1, and thereby actuate levers 17, which coact with connected levers 20 and operate the pull-off rod 23 of the alarm bell 6. Or the levers 17 may be brought to the centre as in Fig. 4, and all act on a lever 24 to actuate the pull-off rod of the alarm. As an additional prevention, actuation of the locking- frame to release the articles may also actuate the bell by arranging the push-piece 33 to actuate a lever 38, which operates the lever 24. The lever 38 may also serve to operate a visible signal, and for this purpose a slide 45, Figs. 4 and 7, moving behind an aperture is held by springs 47 against the end of the lever. When this lever is actuated, the slide is released, and this slide can only be replaced in position by a key-operated lever 50. Instead of actuating an audible signal, a visible signal such as electric lamps may be employed.
