Top boots.-To relieve the ankle from strain, a gaiters boot is provided with a closing-device, such as a strap and buckle 7, Fig. 1, arranged below the ankle bone, and a second closing- device, such as a strap and buckle 8, arranged above the ankle bone. The instep portion of the boot is cut away as far as the toe joints, and is fitted with a soft leather tongue 3, Fig. 2, which is covered by flaps 4; these flaps are secured by straps 5.
