Punching and perforating machines. - A machine for perforating bricks &c. while in the plastic state comprises a pair of stationary brackets A, C, between which the brick B is placed, tubular cutters D carried by a movable bracket G and working through holes X in the brackets A, C, and cutter cleaners H attached to another movable bracket I. Levers L, actuated by a hand-lever T, operate the bracket G through links J and the bracket I through slotted links M, lever N, and links K, the action being such that on depressing the lever T the bracket G is first advanced to press the cutters D through the brick, after which the bracket I is advanced more rapidly, forcing the cleaners H through the cutters and ejecting the cores of material cut out of the brick. Flanged collars E are brazed or welded on to the tubes D to prevent crushing by the clamping-screws F. According to the Provisional Specification, the bracket I is stationary, the material being ejected from the cutters as they are withdrawn.
