Abstract

28,790. Bonthrone, J. Dec. 21. Channels and reservoirs in pulleys.-A selflubricating loose-pulley, sheave, &c. has an oil chamber 2, and a bush 5 provided with a number of tangential holes 6<a>, 6<b>, &c., communicating with the chamber 2 and with the bearing- surface. The holes contain pieces of cane, leather, or other porous material, which are cut away at the central portion to conform to the cylindrical bearing- surface. Some of the holes 6<c>, 6<d> are oblique, and inclined in opposite directions, and their orifices preferably overlap those of the holes 6<a>, 6b. The ends of the cane are cut off obliquely, so as to facilitate the entrance of oil from the chamber 2.
