Channels and reservoirs in bearings. - Bearings for rolls, fly-wheels, shafts, &c. are formed with one or more pairs of recesses 2, Fig. 3, for oil, open at the sides and separated by the central uninterrupted portion 3 of the bearing. The recesses may be connected by a passage 4. The recesses may be inclined towards the same or opposite sides of the bearing, as shown in Fig. 5.
