Abstract

27,482. Leitner, H. Dec. 7. Lighting systems.-The dynamo of an electric transmission system is provided with the subsidiary brush or brushes of a lighting system comprising lamps, a battery, and an automatic cut-out or electric valve which prevents the discharge of the battery through the dynamo when the dynamo slows down. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the commutator a of a shuntwound dynamo is provided with main brushes c, c' connected to the propelling-motor b, and a subsidiary brush d between which and the main brush c the lamp circuit is connected. A resistance j having a high positive temperature coefficient is placed between the brush c and the battery f and lamps h of the lighting circuit, and an automatic connecting and disconnecting switch e short-circuits a resistance g between the battery f and lamps h when the battery supplies the lamps. In a modification, the dynamo is of the type described in Specification 9655/05, [Class 35, Dynamo-electric generators &c.]; and in a further modification, the lighting circuit is connected to two subsidiary brushes of the dynamo. Specification 26,644/06, which describes a lighting and battery-charging system the dynamo of which is provided with a subsidiary brush, is also referred to.
