Abstract

26,750. Hanson, R., Edwards, E., and Jones, C. Nov. 29. Pressure filters. - Apparatus for expressing liquid from tan waste, brewers' draff, spent grain, dye-stuffs, and other moist substances to be used for fuel, gas-making, &c., comprises a perforated tapering chamber B through which the material is pressed by a screw-conveyer C, the shaft of which is extended into a second perforated chamber E. Mounted in grooves set at an angle in the extension K are rollers M which further compress the material and feed it forward to a die or nozzle J. The liquid is discharged from the outer chambers H, 0 through the outlet I. The blades of the screw may be perforated and the shaft hollow.
