Abstract

Disk wheels.-Wood laminae a, Figs. 1 and 2, are caused to adhere by a waterproof glue, preferably under pressure, and have the grain of the wood disposed in different directions, segmental apertures a<2> being cut in the body of the wheel to leave spoke-like parts. The wheel may be convex on one side or on both sides as in Fig. 3, the outer laminae a being built over a core e comprising laminae of suitably varying diameter. The periphery of the wheel may be broadened by the addition of annular strips a<1>, and may run directly on the track or have a metal tyre or tyre-carrying rim. The sides of the wheel and the edges of the apertures may be encased in thin metal.
